Is the building wheelchair accessible?Yes, we have a accessible toilet and a sloped entrance. There is a small step into one of the rooms which is about an inch high but the room can be accessed via another room if that is not suitable. Our hand-building tables are 80cm high. We have one adaptive pottery wheel which is made for wheelchair users, and the height of the wheel head and the armrests can be moved. It is controlled by hand. If you have any more questions, please contact us and we will be happy to talk to you or meet you in person before any class to assess if our workspace suits your needs. For wheelchair accessibility, St Mary's Car Park is the most accessible. Park in the car park and travel down the lane that runs along side the Mother of Fair Love School towards Wellington Square. That route is mostly flat with no steps but the ground is a bit uneven and the lane way is cobblelock.

What happens if I miss a class? In the event of non-attendance for a one-off class (e.g. a Throwing Taster or other 2 / 3 hours hand-building classes), it is not possible to reschedule the class. If you do not turn up, we still have to continue the class for the others attending and cover the costs of running that specific class. **Please double check your class time and dates before booking.** In the event of non-attendance for a class that is part of a longer course, it is not possible to swap to another class at another time or for us to provide you with alternative studio time. If you are signing up to a course, please ensure that you have each of those evenings/mornings free to attend. Sometimes, we have “drop-in sessions” for current students. You are welcome to book and pay to attend those drop-in classes and spend time practicing then but they can not be used as a free substitute for missing a class.

How do I collect my work? You will receive an email to let you know that your pottery is ready for collection. We aim to have the pots fired and glazed within 3 weeks of the class but sometimes, mainly at quiet times of the year, it may take longer to fill the kiln and to get your pots back to you. We will email you with times and dates that the studio will be open so that you can call in to collect. We are usually only open for class times, which can be week day evenings, mornings and most weekends. If none of the times on the email suit, please reply to the email and we can organise to post the pots to you at an extra cost. Currently you have only 6 months to collect your work. After this time, we will donate your pots to charity.
-
What is your refund policy?Refunds are only issued up to 7 days before the course or class starts (minus a €6 admin fee). After this period, if you cannot make the class your course fee will the retained. However you may transfer your space to another person but please let us know of the change. Any deposits paid will not be refunded if a cancellation occurs.

What is throwing?Throwing is the term used for making pots on the pottery wheel.

Will my work explode in the kiln?It is always possible but thankfully, it very rarely happens. So unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every single pot will survive the firing processes however please know that we do strive to make sure that does not happen.

Can I fire pots in Clay Rooms kilns that I have made elsewhere? No, unfortunately not. The Fire Station Artist Studios in Dublin rent kiln space.
